Air Fryers

Persuading my Italian wife to try an Air Fryer, took some persuasion, now she uses it for 80% of our cooking.

It saves on electricity by cutting cooking time by around a third and we find it improves the taste of food.

Apparently, it reduces calorie intake, particularly compared to deep frying.

There are two main considerations when buying one. Firstly, how many will you be cooking for on a regular basis? because they certainly don’t have the capacity of a conventional over. Secondly, there is a tray system which has the benefit of coordinating whatever you may be cooking to be ready at the same time or a tray system with a glass front, so you can keep an eye on what you are cooking.

With electricity costs what they are, Air Fryers have become extremely popular. Here’s a link to reviews of what’s available.

Corkscrew

There’s an array of different types of corkscrews to make it easier to remove a cork and we’ve tried most of them.

Unfortunately, none of them lasted that long until we bought a Cuisinart Automatic Wine Opener. Press a button to extract the cork and another to remove. It’s more expensive than most but so far has proven to be long lasting and it comes with a vacuum sealer and two-year warranty.

Kettle Tipper

A kettle tipper is for those who struggle to lift a kettle and find it dangerous to do so.

There is any number of different ones to chose from and you’ll find most of them at Manage at Home and a lot more besides.

Lazy Susan Turntable

A simple solution for an overcrowded fridge – a tray that pulls out and swivels so you can easily find items. £29

Automatic Pan Stirrer

So you can leave the pan and it will stir it for you. Simple and sensible idea. £25

Vegetable Chopper

Pre-chopped produce is often more expensive and may not last as long. There are choppers now that have a range of uses.

Can Opener

These have been around for a while and are available free standing or hand held.

Ring Pull Opener

So many cans now have a ring pull as do most drink cans. If you struggle to prise the ring pull, these are simple ways to do so.

Jar Openers

Some of these can also double up as ring pull openers.

Household Trolley

Useful for cooking, carrying items around the house and helping to maintain balance.

Long Reach Grabber

Not just for the kitchen but for anything that you might have to reach or bend down for. Some double up as walking sticks and others have extendable lengths.

Perching Stool

For when you struggle to stand for long periods when cooking ( some can also be used in the shower) and for an alternative look or usage, there are wobble stools which can be good for your posture.
